The North Dakota Beef Commission (NDBC) has announced the appointment of Nicole Wardner as its new executive director, effective June 1. Wardner takes over from Nancy Jo Bateman, who retired in December after serving as the longest-serving beef council executive in the nation for 38 years.
As the executive director, Wardner will be in charge of managing the NDBC board of directors and employees while concentrating on Beef Checkoff programming. She will represent the interests of producers and the beef sector in North Dakota. Since 2020, Wardner has worked with Bateman in her former position as a consumer marketing and industry relations professional, bringing to the Beef Checkoff considerable industry knowledge and experience.
Wardner, a native of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, holds a bachelor's degree in animal science and beef production. She worked as an on-air farm broadcaster and program technician for USDA Farm Service Agency before joining NDSU Extension.
The NDBC represents North Dakota beef farmers and ranchers and manages the state's beef checkoff program. Its mission is to enhance beef demand by building consumer trust and surpassing consumer expectations. This objective is achieved through various programs and activities in the areas of promotion, research, and consumer information.
