The NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center invites individuals and organizations involved in fiber production and processing to a special event focused on flax and hemp fiber crops. The gathering offers a chance for professionals to observe different varieties and collaborate on ways to grow the regional fiber industry.
There is no formal agenda, which allows for open and informal conversations. Attendees are encouraged to share their roles in the fiber supply chain and express their goals, interests, and ideas for improving fiber production in the region. This flexible format is meant to inspire collaboration and creative thinking among farmers, processors, researchers, and other stakeholders.
Visitors will also get the opportunity to view research plots featuring current flax and hemp varieties under study. These crops hold promise for a growing fiber market, both locally and nationally, as demand for sustainable, plant-based materials continues to increase. Discussions will center around improving crop quality, boosting yields, and enhancing the processing infrastructure needed to support a stronger fiber industry.
The event serves as a networking and learning opportunity for everyone in the field, from growers to product developers. Whether someone is involved in harvesting, textile manufacturing, or product design, this gathering provides a platform for new ideas to take shape.
