On September 18, the North Dakota State University Department of Animal Sciences is organizing a special beef field day. This event will be held at the NDSU Beef Cattle Research Complex and aims to spotlight the beef cattle research and programs spearheaded by expert researchers and Extension specialists.
The department's head, Guillermo Scaglia, emphasizes the importance of animal welfare and its social, environmental, and economic effects on society. The event highlights the efforts of Extension specialists, students, and scientists to maintain standards in discovery, education, and outreach. Attendees will witness the department's dedication to sharing vital knowledge about animals and their impact on society.
The day will explore on-site research projects at the university, providing insights into applied topics and innovative management techniques for the beef cattle industry. Topics covered include diet impact on rumen microbiome, vitamins and minerals, soybean meal integration, artificial insemination, virtual fencing, and livestock integration into crop systems.
Those attending will be welcomed with a complimentary lunch at 11:30 a.m. Post-lunch, the enlightening tour will commence at 1 p.m. and wrap up by 3:30 p.m.
