Tractor Supply Boosts Pet Care with VIP Petcare Deal

By Jamie Martin

Tractor Supply Company has announced the acquisition of VIP Petcare, one of the largest providers of mobile veterinary services in the United States. This strategic move is aimed at expanding access to affordable animal care, especially in rural and farming regions.

VIP Petcare operates thousands of community clinics hosted at retail locations, including many Tractor Supply outlets. These clinics serve over one million pets every year and provide essential preventive care services for animals.

By integrating VIP Petcare into its operations, Tractor Supply is building a complete pet care system. The company will combine veterinary clinics, digital pharmacy services, and retail products to create a seamless experience for customers.

"VIP Petcare has been a strong partner in helping us expand access to affordable pet care, and this acquisition builds on the unique combination of assets we have assembled across veterinary services, pet specialty, digital pharmacy and retail stores to better serve the millions of Tractor Supply customers who care for pets and animals.” said Hal Lawton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tractor Supply.

“While continuing to support pet parents through VIP Petcare's broader retail partner network. We believe this transaction strengthens our long-term competitive positioning while leveraging existing infrastructure and customer relationships in a capital-efficient manner," said Lawton.

VIP Petcare offers services such as vaccinations, diagnostic testing, and parasite prevention through quick, community-based clinics. These services are designed to be affordable and easy to access, especially in areas where traditional veterinary services may be limited.

"We believe this transaction represents a great outcome for both PetIQ and Tractor Supply and an exciting next chapter for our Veterinary Services business. Tractor Supply is uniquely positioned to continue growing and investing in the Veterinary Services business, creating exciting long-term opportunities for our teams to continue delivering exceptional care to pets and families across the country," said Camillo Pane, Chief Executive Officer of PetIQ.

The acquisition also improves Tractor Supply’s ability to connect with customers through its loyalty program. Increased engagement is expected to drive growth and provide more opportunities to support pet owners.

With its nationwide network of stores and growing digital services, Tractor Supply is well-positioned to expand in the pet care market. This deal strengthens its commitment to supporting animal health, pet care accessibility, and rural lifestyles.
