Hoeven Announces NDSU Export Partnership Effort

By Scout Nelson

John Hoeven is preparing to host agriculture policy discussions at North Dakota State University in Fargo on May 26. The meetings will focus on farm assistance programs, agriculture policy updates, and new opportunities to support rural businesses and export growth across North Dakota.

Hoeven will begin the day with a roundtable discussion alongside Richard Fordyce, who serves as Under Secretary for the Farm Service Agency at the United States Department of Agriculture. The event will bring together agricultural leaders and producers to discuss efforts to strengthen farm assistance programs and improve support for the agricultural industry.

The discussions will also focus on implementing enhanced farm safety net provisions included in the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, also referred to as the One Big Beautiful Bill. Leaders plan to review ways these programs may help agricultural producers manage financial challenges and improve long-term farm stability.

Following the roundtable, Hoeven will host a press conference with Fordyce, NDSU leaders, and representatives from the North Dakota District Export Council. During the event, officials will discuss efforts to create a partnership between NDSU’s Agricultural Risk Policy Center and the National Rural Export Center.

The proposed partnership is designed to combine agricultural policy expertise with export development resources to help rural businesses compete more effectively in global markets. The collaboration will also involve Heather Ranck and her team, who work with rural export development and business support programs.

Both events will take place at Barry Hall Auditorium on the NDSU campus in Fargo. The agriculture roundtable is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Central Time, followed by the press conference at 2:30 p.m. Central Time.

State and university leaders believe these discussions may help strengthen agricultural policy efforts, improve export opportunities, and support continued economic growth for rural communities and agricultural businesses throughout North Dakota.
