North Dakota State University Extension is organizing a fencing school event on June 10 at the North Central Research Extension Center in Minot, North Dakota. The educational program focuses on livestock fencing systems and practical fence construction skills for producers, landowners, and anyone interested in fencing projects.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and combines classroom instruction with hands-on demonstrations. Organizers explain that fencing remains an important part of livestock management and daily farm operations. The workshop is designed to help participants better understand fence systems, maintenance practices, and new fencing technologies.
Morning sessions focus on educational topics including North Dakota fencing laws, virtual fencing systems, and energized fencing technology. Participants learn about legal responsibilities connected to fencing while also exploring modern systems used in livestock operations.
Afternoon activities provide hands-on learning opportunities through live fence construction demonstrations. Participants also learn about fencing tools, building materials, and methods used for fence repair and installation. Organizers say the demonstrations help attendees gain practical experience they can apply to their own projects.
“Whether you are repairing an existing fence, planning a new fencing project or wanting to learn more about different fence systems, this school will provide practical information and hands-on experience for participants of all skill levels,” said Paige Brummund, NDSU Extension agent in Ward County.
The program welcomes participants with different experience levels, including beginners and experienced livestock producers. Organizers explain that the event supports producers looking to improve fencing efficiency, livestock safety, and pasture management.
Registration costs $20 and includes lunch during the event. NDSU Extension requests advance registration to help prepare enough materials and meals for attendees. Additional information and registration details are available online through the NDSU Extensions event page.
