The North Dakota Game and Fish Department, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, has reopened the Coyote Catalog, a program designed to connect hunters and trappers with landowners dealing with coyote issues. This initiative aims to provide a practical solution for wildlife management on agricultural lands during the winter months.
Landowners can register on the Department of Agriculture’s website, while hunters and trappers can sign up through the Game and Fish website. It is essential for individuals who previously registered to reactivate their names in the database for the current season.
Once registered, hunters and trappers may receive details about participating landowners throughout the winter. It is their responsibility to contact the landowners directly and decide to address the coyote challenges on their property.
The program also advises landowners experiencing significant coyote depredation of livestock to first reach out to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services for assistance.
The Coyote Catalog is open through March 31, providing an opportunity for coordinated efforts to mitigate coyote impacts. For additional information, contact Ryan Herigstad at Game and Fish (701-595-4463) or Michelle Mielke at the Department of Agriculture (701-328-2233).
This initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between landowners and wildlife experts in addressing agricultural challenges caused by coyotes.
