House Passes One Big Beautiful Bill for Major Reforms

By Scout Nelson

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a major for approval. Senator John Hoeven praises the bill deficit.

The bill gives permanent tax relief to families and small businesses. This includes no taxes on tips or overtime, a $2,200 child tax credit, new deductions for seniors, and savings accounts for newborns. Families could see up to $10,900 in take-home pay in the first four years.

Small businesses, including farmers and ranchers, will benefit from permanent tax deductions like the Section 199A pass-through deduction and bonus depreciation. The bill also raises the Section 179 limit to $2.5 million to support equipment and property purchases.

Farmers receive stronger safety nets, with updated ARC and PLC reference prices. This includes inflation protections and faster payment updates starting from the 2025 crop year. Crop insurance support increases through the FARMER Act, and livestock disaster programs see new improvements.

Energy reforms focus on ending burdensome rules and boosting American production. The bill rolls back Green New Deal policies, lowers royalty rates on federal lands, and increases the 45Q carbon credit value.

Military spending includes $25 billion for North Dakota-based defense projects and $15 billion for nuclear readiness, including the Sentinel missile program and support for Minot Air Force Base.

Border security efforts get a major boost with wall upgrades, new screening tools, and more border agents. It also increases state and local cooperation to stop illegal activities.
