The Grape and Wine Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. CST. The meeting will take place at the North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s 14th floor conference room in the State Capitol, Bismarck. The agenda includes several research and marketing project proposals from different organizations. Each proposal aims to strengthen the state’s grape and wine industry through innovative approaches in production, marketing, or tourism.
The day begins with a business meeting followed by presentations:
- North Central Research Extension Center (Minot, ND) proposes studying how grape trellis systems affect fruit production, winter survival, and quality. They request full funding of $70,000.
- 4e Winery (Mapleton, ND) presents a rural tourism campaign titled “Putting North Dakota Wine on the Map.” The virtual presentation requests $11,440 of a $16,440 total.
- Sawyer Crossing Vineyard and Winery (Sawyer, ND) introduces the “Souris Valley Frontenac Blanc Development Project,” asking $70,000 for a $278,620 total.
After a short break, the session continues:
- NDSU Fargo presents a virtual proposal on building grapevine resilience to weather shifts, requesting $69,991.
After lunch, presentations resume:
- ND Grape & Wine Association (Dickinson, ND) seeks $22,510 to promote the state’s grape and wine industry.
- Dakota Vines Vineyard and Winery (Colfax, ND) aims to boost rural tourism with a $5,750 request.
- Winery Association of North Dakota (Fargo, ND) proposes a $17,000 state-wide marketing plan.
- 202 Brix Winery (Williston, ND) wants $110,000 for cold-hardy grape research and outreach.
