This winter, North Dakota took a significant step to strengthen the bond between its agriculture and educational sectors. North Dakota State University Extension, in alliance with the state's Departments of Agriculture and Public Instruction, will organize five Farm to School events.
These gatherings aim to provide vital information about the North Dakota Farm to School Program to farmers, ranchers, and school districts.
Attendees will gain insights into what foods schools are keen to buy from local agricultural producers. They'll also learn the intricacies of selling to these institutions and navigating any potential challenges. To support this, key representatives from both the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Public Instruction will be present to answer the queries.
One unique feature of these events is the chance for farmers and ranchers to get listed on the Department of Agriculture's local foods map.
For those traveling a considerable distance (60 miles or more), there's good news – they can avail of travel reimbursement. Individuals unable to attend physically can opt for the virtual session available at two venues. No event is complete without refreshments, which will be available for attendees.
Though there's no mandate to register, it's suggested to ensure a seamless experience. For those interested, the events are spread across different dates and venues, with easy online registration available.
