NDSU Offers Free Spring Gardening Webinar Series

NDSU Offers Free Spring Gardening Webinar Series

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota State University Extension is preparing gardeners for the upcoming growing season through its annual Spring Fever Garden Forums. The online webinar series will take place on Monday evenings from March 23 through April 13.

The educational sessions will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Central Daylight Time. The program is free for participants at most locations and is designed to help gardeners learn useful skills before the gardening season begins.

Gardeners can participate by watching the webinars online from home. In addition, several NDSU Extension county offices will host watch parties where participants can gather and view the sessions together.

The Spring Fever Garden Forums have become a popular educational event for gardeners throughout the region. This year marks the 13th year that NDSU Extension has organized the program. In past years, more than 600 gardeners have participated in sessions each night.

The webinar series will feature a variety of topics designed to help gardeners improve their knowledge and skills. The first session will focus on new annual flowers, lawn fertilization practices, and backyard soil testing methods.

Additional sessions will explore a range of gardening subjects including water conservation techniques, pruning shrubs, growing succulents, landscaping with native plants, and the use of beneficial insects in gardens.

Participants will also learn how to grow gourmet vegetables and manage gardens more effectively during the growing season. These topics are designed to help both beginner and experienced gardeners.

Tom Kalb, NDSU Extension horticulturist, said the program continues to attract strong interest from gardeners in the region.

“This is the biggest educational event for gardeners in our region,” says Tom Kalb, NDSU Extension horticulturist. “Gardeners love the quality of the presentations and the opportunity to ask their questions to the experts.”

Participants can submit questions to speakers during the online sessions. Registration is requested for those who want to attend.

Free seeds and bulbs will also be available at county watch party locations for participants attending in person.

More information about registration, past recordings, and program details is available at ndsu.ag/springfever26.
