Boost Ag Learning with Free Books

Boost Ag Learning with Free Books

By Scout Nelson

In celebration of Ag Literacy Week from March 17-21, 2025, third and fourth-grade teachers have the chance to receive a free agriculture-themed book bundle along with educational materials. This initiative encourages educators to integrate agricultural topics into their classrooms, helping students make real-world connections to their studies.

“I encourage educators to take advantage of this opportunity to embed agriculture into their classrooms,” said Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. “Students will learn about agriculture and connect it to what they’re learning in the classroom. With ag literacy week and state and national ag celebrations coming up in March, this is the perfect time to incorporate these materials.”

The program is open to the first 30 eligible teachers who apply. Recipients must use the provided materials by April 7, 2025, and submit follow-up surveys by April 14, 2025, to assist with program evaluation.

Teachers interested in participating can apply at North Dakota Department of Agriculture. For further details, they can contact Agriculture Business Development Coordinator Heather Lang at 701-328-2308 or email hlang@nd.gov.

This initiative aims to enhance agricultural literacy among young learners, fostering a deeper appreciation of the industry’s role in daily life.
