The Sustainable Food Lab has been at the forefront of driving positive change in agriculture as the main administrator of the North Dakota Trusted Advisor Partnership (TAP) since 2022.
This initiative focuses on promoting climate-smart agriculture in North Dakota, a state facing significant topsoil loss due to extreme weather and unsustainable farming methods.
TAP recently received a substantial financial injection from the USDA Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). This program, dedicated to enhancing conservation efforts and farm viability on a large scale, has allocated $20 million.
This funding is set to provide crucial technical and financial support to farmers engaged in TAP, alongside a similar effort in Minnesota led by the Wilkin Soil and Water Conservation District.
Together, these projects form the North Dakota/Minnesota Supply Chain Soil Health Partnership, aiming to foster better conservation agricultural practices among agronomists, farmers, and consumer goods companies.
This financial boost from the USDA comes at a time when the Inflation Reduction Act is channeling unprecedented funds into climate-smart commodities, reflecting the increasing commitment from both public and private sectors to sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
The RCPP's decision to double its spending in 2023 further underscores the growing momentum behind efforts to create a more sustainable agricultural future in the United States.
