The North Central Region - Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (NCR-SARE) program has flagged two upcoming deadlines for grant opportunities. Those interested in sustainable agriculture have a chance to benefit from these programs, geared towards youth education and innovative farming practices.
The first deadline is for the Youth Educator Grant program, set for Nov. 9. Lindy Berg from North Dakota State University Extension emphasizes the program's goal to "offer young individuals a platform to understand sustainable agriculture."
Berg further clarifies, "Youth educators could be professional teachers, community leaders, or even enthusiastic volunteers." Successful applicants of this program can look forward to funding up to $6,000 for projects extending as long as 23 months.
The Farmer Rancher Grant program focuses on empowering agricultural producers to implement and share innovative sustainable practices. Its application window closes on Dec. 7. As Karl Hoppe puts it, "This program acknowledges the invaluable insights of farmers and ranchers, aiding them in sustainable methods to boost profitability and enhance their life quality."
The grants for this program are more substantial, with single farm projects receiving up to $15,000, and collaborations involving two or more farms getting up to $30,000.
Jeff Gale from the same extension offers a word of advice, stating, "SARE grants are highly sought after. Consulting a SARE coordinator could give applicants a competitive edge."
