Participants will explore crop research trials and listen to presentations by NDSU Extension specialists and research scientists. The field tour aims to provide insight into ongoing research that supports better agricultural practices across the region.

This year’s featured presentations will include:

  • Soil Health Express, led by Chandler Gruener, focusing on practical soil management techniques.
  • Weed control insights from Caleb Dalley, covering the latest findings in weed research and management.
  • An update on small grain diseases and wheat scab from plant pathologist Andrew Friskop.
  • Details on spring wheat and white wheat breeding from Andrew Green.
  • A corn population trial presented by Kayla Ehlis and Clair Keene.
  • Information on carbon markets and economic opportunities by David Ripplinger.
  • A session on North Dakota’s farm and ranch management education from Thomas J. Wood of Bismarck State College.

John Rickertsen will provide an overview of other agronomy projects at HREC, such as pulse crop inoculants, canola sulfur fertilizer, and azospirillum bacteria applications for corn. Additionally, the NDSU Big Data Initiative Program will share how advanced data technology is being used to enhance agricultural research.

A free supper sponsored by Farm Credit Services of Mandan, CHS-Southwest Grain, Helena Agri-Enterprises, and LemmonMade Butcher Shop will follow the event.
