North Dakota State University’s North Central Research Extension Center (NCREC) will hold its annual field day on July 23 in Minot. This event offers a valuable opportunity for farmers, agronomists, and community members to explore current research and agricultural practices through guided tours and live demonstrations.
Starting at 8:30 a.m. CDT, the field day will feature insights into crop and livestock production, soil health, and environmental solutions. The event will conclude with a complimentary lunch for attendees.
Participants will have the chance to interact with NDSU scientists and Extension specialists who will present on several key agricultural topics:
- Carbon capture and carbon markets will be presented by David Ripplinger, highlighting economic opportunities for growers interested in climate-smart practices.
- Emily How will share how the Master Gardener Program in Ward County is helping address local hunger.
- A soil health trailer demonstration will be led by Chandler Gruener, Carlos Pires, James Rogers, and Lacey Quail, covering fencing, cover crops, and livestock management.
- A weed control update will be provided by Brian Jenks and Joe Ikley, focusing on best practices and new solutions for managing invasive species.
- Leo Bortolon will offer an agronomy research update, showcasing recent field study results.
- Barney Geddes will present findings from nitrogen-fixing research, supported by the Richard and Linda Offerdahl Faculty Fellowship.
This event allows attendees to gain practical knowledge, view real-world trials, and connect directly with research experts.
