On July 16, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center will host an expansive field day featuring diverse tours and updates across various agricultural disciplines.

The event promises insightful sessions tailored for livestock enthusiasts, agronomy specialists, advocates of organic and sustainable farming practices, and those interested in northern hardy fruits and specialty crops.

Participants can join concurrent tours starting at 9:30 a.m., including the Livestock Tour showcasing advancements like virtual fencing and camera sensor applications for cattle management, alongside updates on the Dakota Feeder Calf Show and Angus University feedout programs.

Agronomy Production Tour highlights will feature NDSU's latest crop breeding efforts in spring wheat and dry beans, as well as strategies for managing challenging weeds in corn and soybeans.

The Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Tour will delve into organic farming practices, equipment, weed control, and harvesting techniques, supported by insights from the Organic Academy Roadshow.

Additionally, the Northern Hardy Fruit Orchard Tour will explore topics such as combating black rot disease in apple trees and advancements in fruit cultivation techniques.

A lunch break at noon will offer networking opportunities, followed by a Specialty Crop Tour at 1:15 p.m., featuring lupin, kernza, pennycress, sorghum, and cover crops. This event promises a comprehensive learning experience for attendees passionate about advancing agricultural practices and technologies.
