The NDSU Collegiate Cattlewomen, an organization made up of students with a passion for the beef cattle industry, are hosting a special event called "Cows for Kids" on Thursday, April 21, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the West Fargo Public Library and aims to educate children in grades K-4 about agriculture and its importance in their daily lives.
With activities such as book reading, agriculture trivia, Pin the Tail on the Steer, and hands-on exploration of ranch gear, the Collegiate Cattlewomen intend to engage young participants and foster a deeper understanding of agriculture. By reaching children at a young age, the organization hopes to counter the declining trend of agriculture education in urban areas and contribute to a brighter future for the industry.
Jaime Lundquist, Collegiate Cattlewomen beef promotion co-chair and a sophomore studying agricultural economics, emphasizes the significance of informing the community about agriculture and the origins of everyday products. The organization collaborates closely with the North Dakota Cattlewomen on beef promotion initiatives, emphasizing their commitment to promoting accurate information and fostering agricultural awareness.
As a student-focused institution and a research university with a land-grant mission, NDSU aims to serve its citizens by actively engaging in events like Cows for Kids, which encourage agricultural education and community outreach.
