North Dakota State University celebrates the achievement of Bohdan Domnich, a graduate student in the Coatings and Polymeric Materials department, who has recently been honored with the 2025 Spring POLY Graduate Student Travel Award.
This award, bestowed by the American Chemical Society’s Division of Polymer Chemistry, recognizes Domnich's significant contributions to the field of polymer chemistry.
Domnich's research, which focuses on creating tough, biobased thermosets, positions him among the top 37 graduate students nationally invited to present at the Excellence in Graduate Polymer Research Symposium. This event is part of the prestigious 2025 Spring ACS Meeting, known for gathering esteemed researchers and industry leaders in chemistry and materials science.
His presentation, "Tough Biobased Thermosets with Dual Curing Capability via Epoxy and Acrylic Functionality," introduces a groundbreaking thermosetting material.
This material is engineered for enhanced strength and durability through dual curing processes, making it a promising solution for applications in coatings, adhesives, and composite materials.
Under the guidance of Professor Andriy Voronov, Domnich’s work not only advances academic understanding but also holds potential for broad industrial applications.
His research is poised to contribute to the development of more sustainable material solutions, aligning with global trends toward environmental responsibility.
The ACS Spring Meeting will provide a platform for Domnich to share his findings with an international audience, furthering discussions on the latest advances in the chemical sciences.
This accolade not only highlights Domnich's individual accomplishments but also underscores NDSU's role in fostering innovative research that addresses some of today's most pressing challenges.
