The Dakota Prairie Grasslands and Grazing Associations Working Group will hold its next meeting at 9 a.m. Mountain Time on Monday, April 14. The meeting will take place at the Stark County Veterans Pavilion, located at 801 5th Avenue West in Dickinson, North Dakota.
The session will begin with a call to order and introductions, followed by updates from each grazing association on their current Grassland Grazing Grant projects. Members will also discuss project coverage and assess overall progress.
A legislative update is scheduled to inform the group of any policy changes that may impact grazing or land use. Members will also review funding for managing invasive species and other related agreements that support land health.
Another key point on the agenda includes the water well conversion initiative, focusing on the status of approved wells and the details of the memorandum of understanding. The group will further examine a desk guide on land use practices, which outlines conservation techniques and administrative costs.
Travel management on the Little Missouri National Grassland will be reviewed, with a discussion on the current system for road improvements and maintenance, and how well it serves the associations.
An update from the U.S. Forest Service on staffing will also be provided to ensure coordination on federal and local efforts.
The meeting will end with a discussion about future meetings before adjourning at noon.
This gathering helps support the collaboration between grazing associations and public agencies. According to organizers, “Open communication and regular updates are key to our shared success in managing the grasslands effectively.”
By coming together, the group aims to promote healthy rangelands and long-term sustainability through cooperative planning and implementation.
