Soybean farming focus at NDSU sessions

North Dakota State University Extension is set to host the 2025 Western Soybean School Days, slated for February 18 in Minot and February 19 in Dickinson, North Dakota. These sessions are designed to deliver the latest insights and research findings in soybean production, crucial for farmers and crop advisers aiming to enhance yield and tackle various soybean growing challenges.

The event will kick off each day at 8:30 a.m. and wrap up by noon, followed by a complimentary lunch provided at both locations. The program will cover a broad spectrum of topics crucial to modern soybean farming, including disease management, soybean variety updates, weed control, soil fertility, and nutrient management. Each session aims to equip attendees with knowledge to optimize their crop production strategies.

Specifically, the agenda includes:

  • Updates on agronomy and the latest soybean varieties,
  • Current research and strategies for managing soybean diseases,
  • Innovations in weed control,
  • Best practices for soil fertility and nutrient management,
  • Latest findings on insect control,
  • Outlook on soybean market and production trends.

The sessions will be held in two distinct locations: the North Central Research Extension Center in Minot and the Stark County Family and Ag Resource Campus Office in Dickinson. Each venue will facilitate discussions aimed at addressing the regional challenges faced by soybean producers.

Additionally, Certified Crop Advisers attending the event will have the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs), enhancing their professional development and expertise in crop management.

The Western Soybean School Days are free to attend, although registration is required to manage meal planning. Interested participants can register online at the designated NDSU Extension website. The event underscores the commitment of the North Dakota Soybean Council and NDSU Extension to fostering educational opportunities that promote effective and sustainable agricultural practices.
