Retired Faculty Member Dies

Longtime NDSU faculty member Donna Jean Terbizan died Jan. 11 from complications following surgery at Abbot Northwest Hospital in Minneapolis. She was 69.

Terbizan joined the NDSU faculty in 1982 and retired in 2022.

Often called “Doc T,” Terbizan served in a variety of capacities in the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science. In addition, she was chair of the University Senate Academic Affairs Committee, vice chair of the Institutional Review Board, served on the Graduate Council and was president of the University Senate.

For decades she also was a scorer and timer for Bison women’s volleyball and basketball teams.

Terbizan earned her bachelor’s degree at Cleveland State University and her master’s degree in physical education and doctorate in exercise physiology from the Ohio State University.

A celebration of life is planned for March 31 at 3 p.m. in the NDSU Memorial Union’s Anishinaabe Theater. A reception will follow in the Butte Lounge.

Contributions can be made to the ET Fitness Scholarship at NDSU, which Terbizan named in memory of her parents, Eugene and Evelyn Terbizan.
