A student from North Dakota State University recently emerged victorious at the NDFB Collegiate Farm Bureau Discussion Meet. The event was part of the 82nd NDFB Annual Meeting, held on November 22-23 at the Bismarck Hotel and Convention Center in North Dakota.
The competition included four participants representing North Dakota universities. Two students from North Dakota State University and two from Dickinson State University showcased their skills in discussing key agricultural issues.
The winner, a senior majoring in agricultural economics and animal science, grew up on a farm in North Dakota. Inspired by this experience, they plan to return home after graduation to contribute to their family’s agricultural operations.
The advisor for NDSU Collegiate Farm Bureau highlighted the student’s remarkable journey in the organization, noting their active involvement in policy development and education. “Huber is an outstanding student and Farm Bureau member,” said the advisor. “Being a senior, it has been fun to watch him grow and become engaged in policy development and education.”
The NDFB Collegiate Discussion Meet aims to prepare students for real-world challenges. Participants engage in structured discussions on predetermined agricultural topics, sharing ideas and seeking solutions collaboratively. The experience sharpens critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills while fostering a deeper understanding of the agricultural sector.
The winner will represent North Dakota at the American Farm Bureau Collegiate Discussion Meet, scheduled during the AFBF FUSION Conference in Denver, Colorado, in March 2025.
This event underlines the importance of nurturing young minds to address pressing agricultural issues and drive innovation in farming practices.
