North Dakota State University Extension and FirstLink are teaming up to address the mental and behavioral health needs of individuals working in agriculture and related fields. In a seminar titled "Adult Mental Health First Aid," participants will have the opportunity to enhance their understanding of stress and mental health, while gaining crucial skills to support themselves and others in challenging situations.
Registration is now open for this full-day event, scheduled for August 3rd in Wahpeton, North Dakota.
The Adult Mental Health First Aid program, taught by trained facilitators from FirstLink, aims to elevate awareness and develop skills in recognizing mental health concerns. By providing participants with vital resources and strategies, the seminar seeks to equip them to effectively address the ongoing stress and strain prevalent in North Dakota and beyond.
The free-of-charge seminar, made possible through support from the North Dakota Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Center project, is a testament to the recognition of the importance of farm stress and the commitment to allocating resources to tackle this issue.
Open to all individuals interested in mental health, this unique program focuses on the needs of those in agriculture while welcoming broader participation. Limited to the first 30 registrants, the seminar consists of an eight-hour training session, complemented by a brief self-study component.
To secure a spot, registration must be completed by August 1st, allowing time for pre-training preparations.
The event will take place at the Hektner Student Center, North Dakota State College of Science, and is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To learn more about the seminar and register, please visit ndsu.ag/mental-health.
