Lacey Quail has recently joined the team at the North Dakota State University North Central Research Extension Center as a livestock management specialist. In her new role, Quail will be instrumental in leading the center's livestock programs across North Dakota, providing essential support and leadership to Extension agents in the north central region of the state.
Quail's responsibilities include collaborating with various stakeholder agencies, industry leaders, livestock organizations, and crop commodity groups. Her work aims to deliver comprehensive livestock management programming and education throughout the area.
Before her appointment at NDSU, Quail gained valuable experience as a research assistant at Texas A&M University, where she specialized in reproductive management and beef production. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in physiology of reproduction from Texas A&M University, and a bachelor's degree in animal science from South Dakota State University.
"As a steward of land and livestock, how we manage nutrition, reproduction, genetic progress and health of our animals are all critical to the success of an operation," explains Quail. Her commitment to improving livestock management practices highlights her enthusiasm for her new role.
Shana Forster, Director of the North Central REC, expressed enthusiasm about Lacey Quail's appointment, highlighting her broad expertise in livestock management as a valuable asset to North Dakota's producers.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Quail enjoys hobbies such as baking, attending cattle sales, hiking, and driving her antique pickup. Her diverse interests and expertise make her a valued addition to the NDSU team, poised to drive forward the future of livestock management in the region.
