Crop Research Focus at Dakota Crops Day

Crop Research Focus at Dakota Crops Day

By Scout Nelson

The 42nd Annual Western Dakota Crops Day is set to take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time at the Hettinger Research Extension Center, located at 102 Highway 12 West in Hettinger, North Dakota.

This long-running agricultural event brings together farmers, researchers, and ag professionals from across the region to discuss the latest in crop production, soil health, pest management, and research-based farming practices.

Hosted annually by North Dakota State University’s Hettinger Research Extension Center, the event continues its tradition of providing valuable insights that help producers make informed decisions for the coming crop year.

Western Dakota Crops Day serves as a platform for sharing research updates conducted through local and regional extension programs. Attendees gain access to new agronomic data, learn about improved crop varieties suited for western North Dakota, and explore strategies for dealing with challenges such as drought, pests, and changing weather conditions.

While specific session topics and speakers will be announced soon, organizers encourage producers to mark their calendars and plan to attend. The event also provides excellent networking opportunities for farmers to connect with extension specialists, agronomists, and fellow producers.

For more information, participants can contact John Rickertsen at John.Rickertsen@ndsu.edu or by phone at 701-567-4323. Updates and event details will be shared through the NDSU Extension website in the coming weeks.

The Western Dakota Crops Day continues to stand as a key resource for supporting farm profitability and sustainability through education, research, and community engagement.
