American Angus Association strengthens team with Andrew Swanson

American Angus Association strengthens team with Andrew Swanson

By Scout Nelson

The American Angus Association recently welcomed Andrew Swanson as the newest addition to its regional management team. Swanson will serve cattle producers in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, assisting both commercial cattlemen and Association members with various needs.

“Andrew is no stranger to the area or the world of Angus sales,” said Levi Landers, director of field and member services for the Association. “He has spent the last 10 years serving cattlemen, and I’m looking forward to introducing him to breeders in his area.”

Swanson, originally from Ivanhoe, Minnesota, comes to the Association from Select Sires, where he served as beef business manager, overseeing beef market operations in North Dakota and Minnesota. His background also includes other roles with Select Sires, working with both seedstock and commercial producers, as well as representing Lee Agri-Media at production sales over the last five years.

As one of 13 regional managers across the U.S., Swanson’s role includes supporting breeders in promoting Angus cattle, helping commercial cattlemen utilize Angus programs, and assisting newcomers in the Angus business. Regional managers also support breeders’ advertising needs through publications like the Angus Journal and Angus Beef Bulletin.

They represent the Association at livestock events, Angus sales, and shows, while acting as a bridge between the organization, breeders, industry partners, and academic institutions.

Swanson, who grew up around cattle and agriculture, expressed his excitement for the role, calling it his “dream job.” With extensive experience and a family-owned registered Angus herd, Swanson brings hands-on knowledge that he believes will benefit local cattlemen. He officially starts his duties on December 10 and can be reached at aswanson@angus.org or by phone at (507) 829-4133.
