North Dakota Canola Harvest Inching Towards Completion

For the week ending Sunday, there were 5.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 18 percent very short, 32 short, 48 adequate, and 2 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 19 percent very short, 33 short, 46 adequate, and 2 surplus.

Soybean condition rated 4 percent very poor, 16 poor, 29 fair, 45 good, and 6 excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 81 percent, ahead of 69 last year and 64 for the five-year average. Harvested was 10 percent, ahead of 2 both last year and average.

Spring wheat harvested was 97 percent, equal to last year, and ahead of 90 average.

Durum wheat harvested was 94 percent, equal to last year, and well ahead of 74 average.

Winter wheat planted was 37 percent, ahead of 30 last year and 32 average. Emerged was 2 percent.

Corn condition rated 2 percent very poor, 11 poor, 25 fair, 51 good, and 11 excellent. Corn dented was 92 percent, ahead of 74 last year and 76 average. Mature was 46 percent, well ahead of 15 last year and 17 average. Harvested was 1 percent.

Canola harvested was 86 percent, near 90 last year and 82 average.

Sugarbeet condition rated 0 percent very poor, 0 poor, 6 fair, 15 good, and 79 excellent. Sugarbeets harvested was 9 percent, equal to last year, and near 8 average.

Sunflower condition rated 1 percent very poor, 8 poor, 30 fair, 57 good, and 4 excellent. Sunflowers ray flowers dry was 93 percent, near 92 last year, and ahead of 86 average. Bracts turned yellow was 80 percent, ahead of 74 last year, and well ahead of 54 average. Bracts turned brown was 40 percent, ahead of 29 last year.

Flaxseed harvested was 84 percent, near 85 last year, but well ahead of 64 average.

Potato condition rated 0 percent very poor, 15 poor, 35 fair, 47 good, and 3 excellent. Potatoes vines dry was 83 percent, near 79 last year, and ahead of 68 average. Harvested was 15 percent, behind 27 last year, and equal to average.

Dry edible beans dropping leaves was 97 percent, near 95 last year, and ahead of 91 average. Harvested was 74 percent, well ahead of 41 last year and 37 average.

Lentils harvested was 94 percent, near 92 last year.
