North Dakota Corn Stocks Above 2020 Levels

All wheat stored in all positions in North Dakota on December 1, 2021 totaled 190 million bushels, down 25% from a year ago, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. On-farm stocks of 96.0 million bushels are down 44% from 2020 and off-farm stocks of 93.6 million bushels are up 16% from last year.
Durum wheat stored in all positions totaled 18.0 million bushels, down 25% from a year ago. Of the total, 9.50 million bushels are stored on-farm, down 51% from last year, while 8.48 million bushels are stored off-farm, up 95% from 2020.
Barley stored in all positions totaled 19.7 million bushels, down 26% from 2020. On-farm stocks are 8.30 million bushels, down 48% from last year, while off-farm stocks, at 11.4 million bushels, are up 7% from last year.
Corn stocks totaled 300 million bushels, up 19% from 2020. Of the total, 185 million bushels are stored on-farm, up 12% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 115 million bushels, are up 33% from last year.
Soybeans stored in all positions totaled 87.0 million bushels, down 16% from last year. On-farm stocks of 41.0 million bushels are down 7% from a year ago, while off-farm stocks, at 46.0 million bushels, are down 23% from 2020.
Oats stocks totaled 3.53 million bushels. On-farm stocks, at 2.95 million bushels, are down 51% from a year ago, while off-farm stocks totaled 579,000 bushels.
Hay stocks on North Dakota farms totaled 2.10 million tons on December 1, 2021, down 43% from a year earlier.
Grain storage capacity in North Dakota totaled 1.39 billion bushels, unchanged from December 1, 2020. Total grain storage capacity is comprised of 930 million bushels of on-farm storage, unchanged from last year, and 460 million bushels of off-farm storage, unchanged from 2020.
