The USDA reported 6.1 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending August 4, 2024. Topsoil moisture was rated 4% very short, 21% short, 67% adequate, and 8% surplus. Subsoil moisture was rated 4% very short, 14% short, 75% adequate, and 7% surplus.

Field Crops Report:

Soybean conditions were 1% very poor, 6% poor, 32% fair, 56% good, and 5% excellent. Soybean blooming was at 73%, below last year's 91% and the five-year average of 88%. Setting pods were at 39%, behind last year's 62% and the average of 56%.

Spring wheat was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 17% fair, 66% good, and 14% excellent. It was 97% headed, 69% coloring, and 22% mature, with 1% harvested.

Durum wheat was rated 0% very poor, 1% poor, 13% fair, 67% good, and 19% excellent. It was 74% coloring and 18% mature.

Winter wheat was rated 2% very poor, 2% poor, 12% fair, 76% good, and 8% excellent. It was 71% mature and 23% harvested.

Corn was rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 23% fair, 68% good, and 5% excellent. Silking was at 76%, and dough at 11%.

Additional crops such as canola, sugarbeet, oats, barley, dry edible peas, sunflowers, flaxseed, potatoes, dry edible beans, and alfalfa were reported with varying conditions.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions were rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 24% fair, 57% good, and 9% excellent. Stock water supplies were 3% very short, 14% short, 79% adequate, and 4% surplus.
