North Dakota Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer have put forward Brad Thykeson as their choice for the next State Executive Director of the Farm Service Agency (FSA) in North Dakota. Thykeson previously held this role during the former administration, where he worked to support farmers through various federal programs.
During his tenure, Thykeson played a key role in implementing FSA initiatives that provided relief to agricultural producers facing market challenges and natural disasters. Notably, he helped administer the USDA’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, which offered financial aid to farmers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“FSA plays a pivotal role in supporting American farmers and ranchers by administering programs crucial to their day-to-day operations including agricultural risk programs, conservation, and commodity price support,” said Hoeven and Cramer. “Reinstating Mr. Thykeson will provide North Dakota farmers and ranchers an experienced director who, as the former FSA State Director for North Dakota and a lifelong farmer, understands their issues and the needs of North Dakota agriculture as it helps feed the nation.”
If appointed, Thykeson would oversee the implementation of federal agricultural programs, ensuring that farmers and ranchers in North Dakota receive the assistance they need to navigate industry challenges.
