Agricultural producers in North Dakota are reminded to schedule appointments with their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) county office to complete their 2025 crop acreage reports. These reports are crucial for accessing many USDA programs, and the filing deadline for spring-planted crops and perennial forage is July 15, 2025, for all counties in North Dakota.
An acreage report provides essential details about the crops grown on a farm, including type, location, acreage, planting date, and more. Farmers must report all land use, including failed or prevented planted acreage.
To file a report, producers should bring information such as crop type and use, acreage, planting dates, maps, irrigation methods, shares, and prevented planting details. Reports should be timely to avoid missing out on program eligibility.
There are exceptions to the deadline. If planting occurs after July 15, the report must be filed within 15 days of planting. If a producer acquires land after the deadline, it must be reported within 30 days, along with proper documentation.
Producers with Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) policies must report their acreage by the general deadline or 15 days before harvest or grazing—whichever comes first.
For perennial forage crops, some may qualify for continuous certification, automatically carrying forward each year unless changes are made.
Prevented planting due to disasters, such as drought, should be reported using form CCC-576 within 15 days after the final planting date.
Producers can also use the farmers.gov portal to manage records, view maps, and submit geospatial acreage reports using precision agriculture tools. A login.gov account linked to USDA records is needed for access.
