North Dakota State University (NDSU) Extension and the University of Minnesota (UMN) Extension will hold a free webinar on sheep and goat reproduction on June 16 at 7 p.m. The event will be presented online via Zoom and is open to farmers, 4-H members, agriculture professionals, and anyone interested in small ruminant production.
This educational session will feature Rachel Gibbs and Lacey Quail, livestock specialists with NDSU Extension. Gibbs works at the Hettinger Research Extension Center, and Quail is based at the Carrington Research Extension Center.
Participants will learn how to prepare ewes and does for the upcoming breeding season, with a focus on prebreeding management practices and available reproduction technologies. These include breeding protocols and artificial insemination options for both sheep and goats.
Quail will explain general preparation tips, while Gibbs will guide attendees through proven strategies for managing reproduction efficiently. Whether you raise a large herd or just a few animals, the information shared will help improve your breeding success.
To attend, pre-registration is required. Interested participants can register online at ndsu.ag/gsrepro25. Once registered, attendees will receive the Zoom link immediately. A recording of the webinar will also be shared with all registrants after the event.
This webinar provides a valuable learning opportunity for livestock producers looking to strengthen their breeding practices. From improving herd genetics to using modern breeding tools, the insights offered can help producers make better management decisions for healthier and more productive animals.
