The North Dakota Department of Agriculture has approved new funding to help grow the state's agriculture sector. At its May 28 quarterly meeting in Minot, the Agriculture Diversification and Development (ADD) Fund announced a total of $1,084,000 in awards to support five ag projects.
The ADD Fund helps new or expanding businesses in value-added agriculture. These businesses must show financial strength, job creation potential, and contribute to the local economy. Eligible projects include product manufacturing, livestock facilities, food processing, and pet food production.
One recipient, GMG Ranch LLP, receives $200,000 to help finish cattle in a top-level livestock facility. This will improve beef production and support ranchers.
American Crystal Sugar Company gets $300,000 to improve sugar crystallization methods. This upgrade will boost sugar output and help meet market demand.
Qual Dairy Inc. has been awarded $100,000 to set up a semi-automated milking system. The goal is to improve milk quality, raise production, and ensure better cow comfort.
Pride Dairy Inc. receives $300,000 to expand its operations and increase ice cream production and storage. This supports local dairy farmers and meets growing demand.
Frontier Meats is granted $184,000 to build a new facility for processing livestock and wild game. This benefits both local ranchers and hunters by providing a much-needed service.
The next ADD Fund grant hearing is set for July 23-24, 2025, in Medora. Those who wish to apply must submit applications by July 1, 2025.
