Mark Goes, a cattle producer from Odell, Nebraska, was elected as the Region VII vice president of the Federation of State Beef Councils during the CattleCon 2025 event in San Antonio, Texas, held from February 4-6. As part of his three-year term, Goes will represent the states of Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
The Federation of State Beef Councils aims to boost beef demand by promoting a collaborative partnership between state and national beef organizations. It gives a unified voice to producers and state beef councils in guiding the Beef Checkoff program.
“Serving as Region VII Federation vice president allows me to further my lifelong goal of positively impacting the beef industry,” said Goes. “I hope my practicality and ability to see the big picture help bring fellow producers to the table to guide the work of the Federation and the Beef Checkoff.”
A fifth-generation cattle producer, Goes and his wife, Patty, run M&P Gelbvieh Seedstock, specializing in breeding sires and females. They focus on sustainable farming practices, including a grazing system to regenerate tallgrass prairie in southeastern Nebraska. Goes has held leadership roles in various agricultural organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
