The Pride of Dakota Showcases covered five events and drew nearly 44000 shoppers this year, reflecting a notable increase in attendance. The Fargo, Grand Forks, and Bismarck showcases, in particular, recorded the highest visitor numbers since the pandemic, with Bismarck topping the charts at over 15450 participants.
Pride of Dakota originated in 1985 under the vision of a former Agriculture Commissioner, who aimed to create a distinctive brand highlighting products made in North Dakota. The program began with around 20 businesses but today boasts more than 500 members ranging from large companies to small operations. This expansion underscores the widespread support for goods produced within the state.
According to the current Agriculture Commissioner, North Dakotans continuously exhibit enthusiasm for items made, processed, or manufactured locally.
Many consumers and retailers embrace the initiative year around, not limited to showcase season alone. With the brands recognizable label, Pride of Dakota products gain statewide reach, benefiting both producers and communities.
This success is facilitated by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, which organizes marketing and promotional opportunities such as instore demonstrations, Pride of Dakota Day, and the Showcases themselves.
The program also connects participants to educational resources and representation at wider marketing expositions. By offering a platform for small scale entrepreneurs and established companies alike, Pride of Dakota supports their growth and market competitiveness.
The programs membership extends beyond food and beverage producers to include manufacturers, publishers, artisans, and others. Associate members including commodity groups, government agencies, and educational institutions and further value and bolster the brands network of supporters.
These collaborations help raise the visibility of local goods and heighten consumer awareness of the benefits of buying North Dakota made products.
Because many retailers across the state carry Pride of Dakota items, shoppers can easily find them, and businesses can expand their customer base.
A complete list of retailers is available on the official website. With continuing rises in attendance, the Pride of Dakota Showcases highlights the enduring commitment to championing locally produced goods, reinforcing the value of community support in sustaining state industries.
The program continues to flourish, uniting communities and fortifying the regions' agricultural identity.
