The public is invited to partake in a unique culinary event this Thursday, August 29, at the North Dakota State Capitol, where local cuisine will be showcased. Visitors can purchase breakfast or lunch at the Capitol Cafe, which will feature a special menu made with local products, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Doug Goehring, the agriculture commissioner, highlights that everyone should take advantage of this opportunity to sample North Dakotan cuisine, from state employees to tourists visiting the capital.
"The Capitol Café has crafted a special menu featuring locally grown and produced food," says Commissioner Goehring. He encourages everyone to seize this opportunity to appreciate local fare, engage with North Dakota producers, and enjoy the "Fresh from North Dakota" webisode series.
In addition to the delectable meals, attendees can collect a set of free recipes to try at home. For those unable to attend, Commissioner Goehring recommends exploring local options in their own communities and checking out the webisodes online.
Located in the heart of the state government, the Capitol building offers ample parking on the east and south sides. Attendees will need to enter through the south entrance, passing through security to join the festivities.
This event is part of a broader month-long celebration that highlights farmers' markets and local food initiatives across the state. Whether you're a local food enthusiast or a curious visitor, this event promises a taste of North Dakota's best, right in the epicenter of its capital
