Big Iron Farm Show Highlights Tractors and Cattle Gear

Big Iron Farm Show Highlights Tractors and Cattle Gear

By Scout Nelson

With fall approaching, one of North Dakota’s largest agricultural events is back – Big Iron. This well-known farm show highlights the region’s tradition of showcasing big tractors, big combines, and big equipment for crop and livestock producers.

Big Iron offers something for everyone. For cattle producers, new loader tractors and handling equipment are among the top attractions. Livestock displays will be featured in the livestock barn, where producers can explore a variety of tools to help manage their herds more efficiently.

Alongside the equipment exhibits, livestock seminars will be held in the N Building. These sessions cover topics such as feeding calves to finish, updates on livestock health concerns, the economics of early pregnancy testing in heifers, and new developments in the livestock sector across North Dakota.

Each session includes a chance for producers to ask questions and learn directly from specialists.

In addition to Big Iron, another major event is coming up for cattle producers - the Dakota Feeder Calf Show, scheduled for October 18 in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. Producers can consign groups of three or four steer calves, each weighing between 500 and 700 pounds.

These calves will then be fed to finish at the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center, helping producers evaluate the value of their herds in a real-world setting.

Big Iron is more than a farm show; it is a hub for learning, networking, and preparing for the challenges and opportunities of the agricultural year ahead. For more details about Big Iron and future events.
