Five exceptional women have emerged as finalists for the prestigious 2023 Dakotafest Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year Award. These remarkable individuals have showcased their unwavering dedication and exceptional skills in the agricultural industry. The finalists include:
Pam Geppert, a passionate cattle producer from the Kimball area, who has also been the driving force behind the Dakota Farm Talk radio program, delivering valuable insights to farmers and ranchers.
Calli Williams, a first-generation rancher from the Letcher area, who, along with her husband, owns TW Angus, a successful purebred Angus seedstock operation. She is also actively involved in promoting the cattle industry and supporting fellow producers.
Judi Larson, hailing from the Artesian area, brings her profound love for the land, cattle, and horses to her farming operation. She is recognized for her outstanding work ethic, financial acumen, and strong commitment to her community.
Julie Walloch, a dedicated farmer from the Lesterville area, demonstrates remarkable versatility in various aspects of farming. From tending to livestock and managing the farm's financials to actively participating in the local farmers market, Julie's contributions are truly commendable.
Kelsey Geraets, the feedlot manager of a thriving family operation near Humboldt, showcases exceptional leadership and adaptability. Her strong work ethic, involvement in the agriculture community, and commitment to enhancing farming practices make her an outstanding candidate.
These remarkable finalists will be honored during the Women in Ag Event on August 17, 2023, as part of the Dakotafest show near Mitchell. Their dedication, resilience, and achievements serve as an inspiration to women in agriculture and the entire farming and ranching community.
