At the 81st NDFB Annual Meeting held in Fargo, North Dakota State University student Taiton Axtman stood out as the winner of the Collegiate Farm Bureau Discussion Meet. The event, which took place at the Holiday Inn recently, showcased Axtman's exceptional skills in agricultural discourse.

Axtman, who is a sophomore at NDSU, is pursuing a double major in Ag Econ and Crop and Weed Science. His agricultural roots run deep, having spent summers working on his uncle’s farm and feedlot in Fessenden. His win at the meet is a testament to his deep connection and understanding of agricultural practices.

The competition saw four contenders vying for the top spot. Apart from Axtman, Race Jacobsen represented NDSU, while Paul Hanebutt and Shayna Pond participated from Dickinson State University Collegiate Farm Bureau.

Alisha Nord-Donnelly, advisor for NDSU Collegiate Farm Bureau, praised Axtman for his active involvement and innovative ideas. The NDFB Collegiate Discussion Meet, designed for constructive discussions on agricultural issues, mirrors real-life committee meetings, encouraging critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving.

The victory at this event has earned Axtman the opportunity to represent at the American Farm Bureau Collegiate Discussion Meet. He will be traveling to Omaha, Nebraska, to participate in the AFBF Fusion Conference in March 2024, further showcasing his talent and knowledge in the field of agriculture.
