The North Dakota Farm Bureau (NDFB) recently spotlighted the creativity of young artists in its "Farmers of Tomorrow" art contest, a key feature of the 2024 NDFB Week from March 10-16.
This unique contest encouraged children to draw themselves as future farmers, complete with envisioned farming gear and the types of crops or livestock they dream of raising.
Lisa Hauf, NDFB's Director of Public Relations, expressed admiration for the entries, which included innovative concepts like agriculture on the moon and the use of drones and robots in farming.
The submissions were evaluated on creativity and artistic composition, leading to the selection of four outstanding winners across two grade categories, each receiving $50:
- 4th Grade Winners: Molly Woodbury (McKenzie, N.D.) for artistic composition and Adlyn Neumiller (Washburn, N.D.) for creativity.
- 5th Grade Winners: Reese Neva (Bismarck, N.D.) for artistic composition and Addison Heuchert (Cavalier, N.D.) for creativity.
These awards align with the theme of this year's NDFB Week, "Cultivate Your Future: Nurturing Growth, Sowing Innovation," emphasizing the importance of fostering a sustainable and innovative future in agriculture.
The week-long celebration includes various activities hosted by county Farm Bureaus, such as agricultural trivia and meat bundle giveaways, to engage the community and celebrate the agricultural sector's contributions.
By encouraging young minds to envision their futures in agriculture, the "Farmers of Tomorrow" art contest and NDFB Week aim to sow the seeds of innovation and growth in the next generation of farmers.
