Soybean Training in Minot and New Leipzig

By Scout Nelson

The 2026 Western Soybean School will take place in Minot on February 18 and in New Leipzig on February 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The program offers farmers the latest updates in soybean production, soil fertility, pest management, and weed control.

The Minot session is held at the North Central Research Extension Center. The New Leipzig session takes place at the New Leipzig Community Center. Both events follow a similar schedule and provide valuable learning opportunities for soybean growers. Continuing education units for Certified Crop Advisers are offered at both locations. Lunch is free and served at noon but registration is required to plan food and beverages.

In Minot, the session will include soybean plant population management, the latest agronomy research, strategies to manage herbicide resistance, alternative soybean storage options, and a soybean market outlook. Speakers include Ana Carcedo, Leo Bortolon, Brian Jenks, Matthew Gammans, and Frayne Olson.

In New Leipzig, participants will attend sessions on soybean plant populations, soybean inoculation, and research updates, practical approaches to herbicide resistance, storage alternatives, and soybean production costs, and land prices. Presenters include Ana Carcedo, Victor Gomes, Travis Evenson, Matthew Gammans, and Bryon Parman.

Each event begins with registration at 10:00 a.m., followed by opening remarks. Sessions run throughout the day and conclude at 3:00 p.m.

This school provides farmers with practical knowledge to improve crop performance and manage costs. By attending, growers will gain updated research insights and strategies to strengthen their soybean operations. Registration is free but required to ensure proper event planning.
