Shana Forster, representing North Dakota State University, was recently celebrated among twenty-one leaders at the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities meeting. As the director at NDSU’s North Central Research Extension Center and a district director for NDSU Extension, her recognition comes for her exceptional contribution to the Food Systems Leadership Institute (FSLI) program.
The FSLI, a prestigious two-year program, is designed to develop executive leadership skills in the fields of academia, government, and industry. Participants undergo a comprehensive curriculum, including executive-style residential sessions, personal coaching, and individual projects.
This program, supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is a collaboration between North Carolina State University, The Ohio State University, and California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Fellows like Forster credit the program for significantly enhancing their leadership abilities. The impact of the FSLI is evident as over 40% of its alumni have progressed to higher positions, including university-wide leadership roles and other notable recognitions.
The institute's focus is not only on personal leadership development but also on fostering skills for organizational change and a deeper understanding of integrated food systems. Forster and her fellow honorees represent the program's success in equipping leaders to drive positive change in their respective fields.
