The North Dakota State Board of Agricultural Research and Education has appointed Scott Ouradnik and Jim Bahm, bringing fresh perspectives to its mission of addressing agricultural needs, setting funding priorities, and establishing policies in collaboration with the Agricultural Experiment Station and North Dakota State University Extension.
Scott Ouradnik, a respected cattle producer and rancher in Slope County, brings extensive leadership experience to the role. With 14 years of experience on the Slope County Commission, including his current chair, he is dedicated to agricultural development. Ouradnik is also a licensed real estate agent and has held influential positions in organizations like the North Dakota Association of Counties and the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund Board.
Jim Bahm, a North Dakota Ag Coalition representative, is joining SBARE for his second term. Bahm and his wife operate a diverse farm in New Salem, cultivating hard red spring wheat, corn, soybeans, flax, canola, and sunflowers. With a background as a certified crop adviser and involvement in agricultural associations, Bahm brings valuable knowledge to the board.
The SBARE also welcomed Rep. Alisa Mitskog to fulfill the remainder of Rep. Tracy Boe's term, reinforcing a legislative perspective in the board's deliberations. Sarah Lovas was reelected as chair, while John Nordgaard assumes the role of vice chair.
These recent changes in the SBARE board showcase their dedication to encouraging new ideas, ensuring a variety of perspectives, and promoting progress in North Dakota's agriculture. The combined knowledge and energetic leadership of the members will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the future of research, education, and sustainable farming practices in the state.
