North Dakota crop progress - latest USDA report

The topsoil moisture resources in North Dakota were classified as follows by the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service: 2% very short, 20% short, 69% adequate, and 9% surplus. The subsurface moisture supply had ratings of 12% short, 75% adequate, 11% excess, and 2% severely short.

Field Crops Report:

Soybean condition was rated 2% very poor, 9% poor, 38% fair, 45% good, and 6% excellent. Soybeans blooming was at 61%, behind last year’s 83% and the five-year average of 77%. Setting pods were at 21%, behind last year’s 40% and the average of 35%

Spring wheat condition was rated 0% very poor, 3% poor, 16% fair, 66% good, and 15% excellent. Spring wheat headed was at 92%, near last year's average of 96%. Coloring was at 52%, close to last year’s 49% and the 51% average. Mature was at 7%, near last year’s 6% and the average of 10%.

The condition of the Durum wheat was rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 12% fair, 65% good, and 21% excellent. Durum wheat headed was at 97%, near last year and average of 93%. Coloring was at 61%, near last year’s 62% and ahead of the 42% average. Mature was at 4%, close to last year’s 3% and equal to the average.

Winter wheat condition was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 11% fair, 75% good, and 11% excellent. Winter wheat coloring was at 96%, ahead of last year’s 84% and the 87% average. Mature was at 55%, near last year’s 51% and the 53% average. Harvested was at 6%, near last year’s 7% and behind the 11% average.

Corn condition was rated 1% very poor, 6% poor, 28% fair, 59% good, and 6% excellent. Corn silking was at 40%, behind last year’s 65% and the 54% average. Dough was at 1%, near last year and average of 3%.

Canola condition was rated 2% very poor, 5% poor, 29% fair, 52% good, and 12% excellent. Canola blooming was at 96%, near last year and average of 98%. Coloring was at 19%, behind last year’s 25% and the 27% average.

Sugarbeet condition was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 4% fair, 14% good, and 79% excellent.

Oats condition was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 15% fair, 66% good, and 16% excellent. Oats headed was at 92%, near last year’s 93% and the 94% average. Coloring was at 43%, near last year’s 45% and behind the 48% average. Mature was at 7%, close to last year’s 4% and behind the 12% average.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 3% very poor, 6% poor, 26% fair, 55% good, and 10% excellent. Stock water supplies were rated 1% very short, 12% short, 81% adequate, and 6% surplus.

The USDA report provides a detailed view of North Dakota's crop conditions and moisture levels, reflecting varied crop stages and soil moisture supplies across the region.
