NDSU’s Field to Fork series starts February

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota State University Extension is excited to announce the 10th annual Field to Fork webinar series, set to start on February 12, 2025. This educational series will offer free webinars every Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m., continuing through May 7. The webinars will cover a range of topics important to both novice and experienced gardeners and food preservers.

The Field to Fork webinars is designed to provide valuable information on how to safely grow, preserve, and prepare specialty-crop fruits and vegetables. Participants will gain insights from regional experts, including extension agents and university professors, on practical and scientific aspects of horticulture and food safety.

Webinar Schedule Highlights:

  • Feb. 12: Don Kinzler will teach participants how to start flower and vegetable transplants indoors.
  • Feb. 19: Bryon Chaves will discuss the anatomy of a food recall.
  • Feb. 26: Tom Kalb will offer growing tips for summer and winter squash.
  • March 5: Julie Garden-Robinson will host a live demonstration on preserving salsa.
  • April 16: Janet Knodel will explore common pests with "Ghosts in Your Gardens."

Each session allows participants to interact live with the presenters, asking questions and engaging in discussions. Although the webinars will be archived for later viewing, attending live enhances the learning experience by facilitating real-time interaction.

Registration is required to participate, and attendees can sign up at the Field to Fork website: ag.ndsu.edu/fieldtofork. Upon registration, participants will receive reminder emails with the necessary Zoom link for accessing the webinars.
