NDSU Moos, Ewes and More Event Returns

NDSU Moos, Ewes and More Event Returns

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota State University is inviting the public to its annual Moos, Ewes, and More event on September 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the NDSU Equine Center.

This free, family-friendly gathering gives visitors a close look at the animals that call NDSU home and the people who care for them every day.

Attendees can meet calves, pigs, sheep, and horses while learning how these animals are raised and cared for. Visitors also have the chance to talk with the managers, faculty, and staff from the Department of Animal Sciences who teach and conduct research on campus.

Experts will share knowledge about biology, genetics, nutrition, hygiene, and animal care, making the event both fun and educational.

Dr. Jake Galbreath, NDSU Extension veterinarian and event co-chair, says the event is designed to inspire curiosity and connect the public with agriculture. “This free, family-friendly event allows people of all ages to see livestock up close and learn about how they are cared for and the important research they help us perform,” Galbreath explains.

Popular attractions return this year, including horse-drawn wagon rides provided by Keith and Bernie Johnson. For those looking to grab a bite, Carnivore Catering will have hot dogs and snacks available for purchase. Additional displays and demonstrations will be set up in and around the arena to showcase the many aspects of livestock care and research.

The Moos, Ewes, and More event is an ideal opportunity for families, students, and community members to experience agriculture firsthand.

Whether you are curious about how wool becomes socks or how cattle grow on grass, this event offers an engaging look at animal science and the work done at NDSU to advance research and education.
