NDSU Hosts Predator and Wildlife Workshop

NDSU Hosts Predator and Wildlife Workshop

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota State University Extension, in partnership with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s APHIS Wildlife Services, organizes a Predator and Wildlife Management Workshop. The event will be held on June 5 at the Hettinger Research Extension Center Livestock Lab in Hettinger, North Dakota.

This workshop aims to educate farmers, ranchers, and landowners about managing predators and wildlife that can harm livestock and crops. Participants will learn effective methods to control predators while understanding wildlife behavior and laws related to animal management.

The program begins at 10 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time and will provide practical knowledge and resources to help attendees protect their livestock and maintain farm safety. Experts from NDSU Extension and wildlife agencies will guide participants through techniques that balance predator control with wildlife conservation.

Predator management is important in agricultural areas where animals like coyotes, wolves, and other wildlife may threaten livestock health and farm productivity. By attending this workshop, local producers gain valuable skills to reduce losses and improve their farm operations.

The partnership between NDSU Extension and wildlife departments ensures the workshop offers up-to-date information based on science and legal regulations. This cooperation supports both agricultural needs and environmental stewardship.
