NDSU and Titan Machinery Host Precision Agriculture Camp

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota State University’s Department of Agricultural Technology and Management teams up with Titan Machinery to offer a two-day summer Precision Camp.

This camp is designed for high school students in grades 10 through 12 who want to learn about precision agriculture. It takes place at NDSU’s Memorial Union on August 5 and 6 and costs $100 per person.

During the camp, students explore the field of precision agriculture with help from NDSU faculty and industry experts. They get hands-on experience working on projects that teach them how to use technical and digital systems found in modern heavy farming equipment.

The camp also covers important skills such as problem-solving and maintenance for agricultural machinery.

Precision agriculture is a fast-growing area in farming that uses technology to improve crop production and processing. As this field advances, there is a rising need for skilled mechanics and technicians who understand these systems.

The camp helps students explore their interest in agriculture and learn about possible careers in this technical area.

Leon Schumacher, chair of NDSU’s Department of Agricultural Technology and Management, emphasizes that camps like this are important.

They give young students the chance to learn new skills and understand the vital role precision farming plays in producing food efficiently and sustainably.
