The North Dakota State University (NDSU) Extension, a vital institution for agricultural knowledge and community outreach, recently held an award ceremony to highlight the best among its ranks.
Angie Johnson, recognized as the "Communicator of the Year," played a pivotal role in advancing farm safety in North Dakota. Her unwavering dedication, noted by Bruce Sundeen from NDSU Agriculture Communication, shone through her extensive media outreach on the importance of safety for farm families.
Penny Nester was honored with the Epsilon Sigma Phi Mid-Career Service Award, a testament to her over a decade of exemplary service. Not only has she been a beacon of leadership within NDSU, but she has also fostered growth in the 4-H program in Kidder County, leading many to national platforms.
Torie Piehl was lauded for her superior communication skills, receiving the Epsilon Sigma Phi Meritorious Support Staff Award. Beyond her immediate duties, she has consistently aided Extension’s statewide efforts, even launching a tool for support staff to share insights and resources.
The Fit and Strong program team, led by Jane Strommen, has been awarded the Program Excellence award for their successful initiative focusing on physical activity for individuals with osteoarthritis, resulting in pain reduction and increased energy among participants.
The award ceremony, sponsored by NDSU’s Joint Council of Extension Professionals, underscores the immense value and dedication of the professionals within the NDSU Extension community, proving yet again the significance of their outreach and impact.
